Lions Compete at Cal Opener

Due to weather and the cancellation of a scheduled meet at American River College, the De Anza College track & field program entered several student-athletes to compete at Cal last weekend. The Mountain Lions did very well, competing against other NCAA and 3C2A programs in wet conditions at Edwards Stadium.

The DA men finished second out of six teams in unofficial team scoring; while the DA women placed third out of five teams in unofficial scoring.

Women's Top Collegiate Finishers

1^st Place Discus • Ningning O'Brien

1^st Place 4x100 Relay

Ningning O'Brien was also 4^th in the Hammer throw - with the 9^th best throw in school history and a State A mark.

Men's Top Collegiate Finishers

1^st Place Hammer Throw • Kai Burich - with a new PR that betters his 4^th in history best mark.

1^st Place Discus Throw • Liam Brennan

2^nd Place 3000 • Antoine Moret with the 2^nd best time in school history.

4x100 and 4x400 Relays • both 1^st place.

2^nd Place 110HH and 400 Hurdles • Daniel Chen - 110HH mark was 9^th in school history and a State B mark.

2^nd Place Shot Put • Mateo Garcia

Sam Betz was 4^th place in Javelin - hit a State A mark.
