FAST Earns College Equity Award

The De Anza College FAST (Football Academic Support Team) was selected as an Equity Champion Award winner for the 2023-24 academic year. The award celebrates individuals and groups who are making significant contributions to inclusion at De Anza College and to advancing the college's vision of equity, social justice and multicultural education.

Led by head coach/FAST coordinator Joe D'Agostino, the team was recoginzed during the annual Equity Champion Awards ceremony on June 11.

The FAST program is designed to address the academic, financial, and personal growth needs of our diverse student-athlete population. FAST is a proven model for Guided Pathways and our campus Villages – where Equity work thrives. With a commitment to wrap-around student-centered support, our FAST tutors empower student-athletes to excel academically while pursuing their athletic aspirations.

D'Agostino will be a workshop presenter at the 2024 Community College League of California Convention during the week of Nov. 21-23 in Burlingame. The League's Annual Convention is the premier professional development event for California's community college leaders. This event brings together CEOs, trustees, faculty, staff, administrators, and partners from across the state to share tools, models, and solutions to system issues, as well as celebrate accomplishments.

D'Agostino will share best practices around the equity-award winning FAST program.
