Lions Rally Past Contra Costa

De Anza College scored four runs in the top of the ninth inning for a 7-4 non-conference win at Contra Costa on Tuesday.

The Lions led 3-2 after four innnings, scoring runs in the first, third, and fourth. After falling behind 4-3 in the seventh, De Anza needed final at-bat heroics to notch its first victory.

Philbert Fan (single) and Evan McRae (walk) set the table with one out in the ninth. Three straight batters contributed to runs: Pim de Vries (reached on an infield error), Joseph Lomeli (RBI single), a balk scored Vries, and Kurt Beckmann's ground out plated Lomeli to grab the lead.

Freshman Trenton Farnham pitched the ninth, stranding the tying run at second, to record his first win of the season.

UP NEXT: The Lions will host Solano College on Thursday at 2pm.
