Lions Finishing Best Season

With the final two weeks of the beach volleyball regular season remaining, the 2024 De Anza College team continues to climb the standings.

The Lions, guided by head coach Dawnis Guevara, are also posting their best season - since joining the 3C2A beach volleyball ranks in 2022.

With a 6-11 overall record, and currently fifth in the eight-team Coast Conference at 4-6, De Anza has surpassed 2022 and 2023 win-totals.

Following a tough stretch in February against top-ranked competition, the Lions have won four of their last seven matches - including victories in rematches against College of San Mateo and Hartnell College (currently ahead of DA in the standings).

"I am really proud of our team," Guevara said.

"Everyone has worked really hard in practice and in the weight room. It's great to see those efforts pay-off in competition. This is such a fun team to coach. We have a lot of positive energy."

The final four matches feature a pair of teams ahead of De Anza (Fresno, West Valley) and two teams chasing the Lions (Gavlian, Cabrillo).

De Anza has played all matches on the road since its inaugural season in 2022. Construction for De Anza's multi-million dollar on-campus beach facility is scheduled to begin later this summer.
