Under Guevara’s leadership, De Anza is a perennial playoff qualifier and is a regular in the CCCWVCA state rankings.

PLAYING CAREER

Guevara (Wilson) was also a standout at San Jose State University under Hall of Fame coach Dick Montgomery. As the Spartans’ starting outside hitter for all four years, she earned postseason awards each season: All-Big West Freshman Team (1988, first in school history), All-Big Second Team (1989), First Team All-Big West and First Team All-Region (1990), and Honorable Mention (1991).

She also earned Big West Conference Player of the Week on two occasions.

During those four years, San Jose State was ranked nationally for Division I – in the Top 20 every year; Top 10 during her junior year; and the program made NCAA Tournament appearances four consecutive years.

By the time her Spartan career was over, she became the all-time leader in kills with 1,426. She was also the first player in school history to record more than 1,000 kills and 1,000 digs. Guevara (Wilson) still ranks among the career leaders in kills, kill attempts, digs per game, service aces, and 20/20 double-doubles in kills/digs.

Guevara was also a professional volleyball player with the San Jose Storm for four years, playing with various Olympic and professional beach players. She earned an AAA rating in beach volleyball.
