De Anza's Coast Conference Supremacy

De Anza has won 12 consecutive Coast Conference All-Sports Trophies.

The award is given each year for best overall performance in the 17-member intercollegiate sports conference, based on points awarded for season standings in every sport.

Athletics Director Kulwant Singh praised the efforts of student-athletes, coaches, staff, volunteers and administrators. He said the award recognizes De Anza’s emphasis on a wide range of sports, with a total of 16 men’s and women’s teams.

“I am especially proud that we have a diverse offering of sports for our student body,” said Singh. “Many schools in the state and in the conference specialize and feature certain sports. At De Anza, we value all sports.”

For the 2018-19 award, Singh cited strong performances by several teams, including women’s badminton, cross country, track and volleyball – all four finished second in the conference – and men’s soccer, which earned a third-place standing.

The college has won the All-Sports trophy 25 times in the last 35 years, according to Singh’s records.

The Coast Conference includes Cabrillo, Chabot, Foothill and other colleges from Monterey Peninsula in the south to City College of San Francisco in the north.
